Wildflower Farms: My Hudson Valley Fall Escape
Fall is here, and I found the PERFECT weekend escape just two hours from New York City!
Wildflower Farms, part of the Auberge Resorts Collection, has been on my bucket list forever, and let me tell you: it’s worth the hype. This isn’t just a weekend getaway; it’s an experience. From the moment you arrive, you’re wrapped in nature, spoiled with amazing food, and left feeling completely relaxed yet totally alive.
First things first: When you check in, you’re welcomed with a beautiful hand-washing ritual. It’s a small, symbolic gesture, but it sets the tone for your whole stay: slow down, leave the world behind, and just be present. Plus, anything that involves a hot towel gets a “yes” from me.
Once you’re cleansed and ready, you’ll head to your cabin, and trust me “stunning” doesn’t even begin to cover it. The floor-to-ceiling windows bring the Hudson Valley right inside, while the vaulted wood ceilings and fireplace give it that cozy, sanctuary vibe. Each cabin feels modern yet warm, luxe but inviting, with a soaking tub that practically begs you to take a long bath.
You need to know this: The heated floors in the bathroom and entryway are a game-changer. I didn’t know I needed them until I had them, and now I can’t imagine a chilly morning without them. Each room also has a private outdoor space, which is perfect for sipping coffee or wrapping up in a blanket to watch the sun set.
The beauty of Wildflower is that you’ll never run out of things to do. Each day is packed with a new lineup of activities, and my advice is to try a little of everything.
- Take a class. I’m talking about everything from pickleball and tennis lessons to bouquet-making and cocktail mixing. Don’t skip the donut-making class—eating those little guys warm from the pan is a core memory.

- Get your hands dirty. The property is a working farm, so make a point to collect your own eggs for breakfast. There’s something truly magical about cracking an egg you just gathered that morning into a skillet at the restaurant, Clay.

- Explore. Lace up your sneakers and hit the trails. Wildflower is all about a choose-your-own-adventure vibe. On weekends, the property comes alive with live music on Friday and Saturday evenings, it’s the perfect soundtrack for happy hour.
The Thistle Spa is a sanctuary in itself. I can say this without hesitation: you absolutely must book the Soothing Thistle Massage! I actually dozed off, and I never fall asleep during massag

The indoor saltwater pool makes this a year-round destination, and the outdoor hot tubs are the perfect place to soak after a day of exploring. Complimentary yoga and fitness classes in their private studio round out a wellness experience that is thoughtful, indulgent, and restorative all at once.
Wildflower has just one restaurant, Clay, and you won’t want anything more. Every meal I had was a 10/10. The menu is rooted in the land…think vibrant salads, steak tartare, and ribeye and somehow manages to feel both elevated and approachable. And don’t even get me started on the wine list. It’s considered, thoughtful, and perfectly complements every single dish.

Listen to me very carefully: You can’t leave without ordering the chocolate chip cookie skillet with ice cream. It’s warm, gooey perfection. Pro tip: Pair it with an espresso martini. You’re welcome.

And if you’re not indulging in the cookie that night, make sure to grab a s’mores kit and head to the outdoor firepit. It’s nostalgic, cozy, and the perfect ending to a crisp fall evening under the stars.
What really sets Wildflower apart is the way they care for their guests. Food allergies? Gluten-free, nut-free, dairy-free? They keep your preferences on file and seamlessly accommodate you at every meal. It’s rare to feel so understood without ever having to repeat yourself.
If you want to venture off-site, head to One With Land , a cozy cottage restaurant nearby, run by NYC restaurateurs. It delivers the same soulful, thoughtful experience in a charming, intimate setting.
Between the donut and cocktail classes, the spa, the yoga and pickleball, the self-led hikes, the weekend live music, the s’mores by the fire, and meals that scored a perfect 10, Wildflower Farms is hands down the ultimate fall getaway.

Wildflower Farms was on my list for years, and it was absolutely worth the wait. If it’s been sitting on your bucket list, move it straight to the top.
