THE HOT LIST KIDS & TEEN GUIDE
The beginning of a new year is the perfect time to focus on a few important services your children may need. Whether its speech, music lessons, exercise classes, college prep or psychotherapy, here are a few of my favorite go to’s in northern New Jersey from my HOT LIST.
MUSIC LESSONS
One of the biggest questions I get is “Do you know anyone that comes to the home to teach guitar, piano, drums, etc?” Not only do I know someone, one of the best, Adam Kestler and his staff, are in our backyard!
Adam Kestler is the founder and owner of Home Sweet Home Music Lessons, where he and his staff offer in-home music lessons on all instruments. Home Sweet Home Music Lessons prides itself on providing comfort, convenience, and quality music education for its students.
Home Sweet Home travels to you and offers a FREE trial lesson (just mention Lulu and Lattes). They offer lessons on all instruments for students of all ages. They also offer Music lessons for students with special needs. Home Sweet Home holds both winter and spring recitals.

EXERCISE
BARITEENS
I think the key to getting your kids to exercise is suggesting a class they can both workout with a friend and be so much fun they can’t wait to go back! This is definitely Bariteens. Bariteens has a creative movement program that combines elements of dance, gymnastics, and games to stimulate young minds and keep their bodies active. Classes incorporate a warm-up, basic cardio moves, organized games, and freestyle dance. The girls LOVE it and keep going back for more.
SPEECH
SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST
When I was looking for a speech therapist for my younger son, a friend had recommended Deanna Goldstein, executive director of NY Speech & Language Services. Deanna and I clicked over the phone and I knew she was the right fit after meeting with my son. NY Speech & Language Services dramatically improved my son’s speech in less than a year.
Deanna has experience working with a variety of populations, including, but not limited to, children with developmental language delays, auditory processing difficulties, reading comprehension issues, articulation errors, stuttering issues, oral motor deficits, different types of feeding issues, autism spectrum disorders, and Down syndrome. In addition, she provides language based tutoring services which help to improve language learning across all subject areas.
NY Speech and Language Services priority is to collaborate with the parents, school and/or other therapists to accurately meet the needs of the children they serve and assist in creating the best educational program to further the development of each child. The main goal is to work with the child, family, and school to provide an environment in which speech and language will thrive.

PSYCHOTHERAPIST
Ready or not, we all go through numerous transitions in our lives – leaving high school to go to college or work, changing jobs, getting married, having children. These become those weeks or months or longer of awkward emotional spaces where we have cut ties with what we know and have not quite settled into what is new. Some are by choice, some by opportunity; others come from natural ends – the graduating from college – and still others are unwillingly imposed on us – sudden layoff from a job, unwanted and uninitiated breakups in relationships. Whatever the circumstances, navigating this gray zone of transitions can be difficult, presenting us with new problems and demanding us to respond in new ways. It is during these times we could all use some professional advice and help. But who to turn to?
