The daughter syndrome

I pushed out two boys. Two amazing, beautiful boys! I live for them. They make me laugh, cry, scream, lose my shit and smile from ear to ear. They have that effect on me. I am sure your kids do as well. I didn’t get the girl, as you know, so I live vicariously through my friends who have girls. I miss out on nail appointments, dance classes, recitals, drama and sequin tops. I miss out on the back to school shopping at Kids at Heart and Precious Cargo. I hear all the stories and I soak them in. It makes me feel a little less left out and a little more in the know. If you are tired of hearing your daughter complain about whatever drama is going on in her life, I will be HAPPY to take her. I swear. No givebacks.

I love being let in on the newest trends that my boys could care less about. I was obsessed with those high-top converse that came out 5 years ago. I wanted to buy them for my friends kid just because they were too cute not to.

converseI find myself in stores, taking pictures of sweatshirts, shoes, leggings and texting them to my friends, saying “how cute is this, you have to come get this, or can I pick this up for Alex, Blake, Logan, Hannah WHOEVER?” It is so weird, I know. I don’t know what is wrong with me. I feel like the grandmother who shops for her grand-daughter non-stop but the difference is, I don’t have a grand-daughter. I am 38 and I have two boys. WTF.

Today I found out this crazy new trend that is going to take over in a few short months unless it already has and I am completely behind the 8 ball. People are driving to Newark. Yup, those 12,13,14 year old girls are asking their mommies to drive them to Newark. For what? To get their nails done like this: (because the ladies on this side of the tracks are not asking for this) Only at Vivi Nails on Broad Street.

The deal is you have to know way before you go in EXACTLY what you want. The Korean ladies do not have a book of designs, patience or time for you to make a decision. You walk in, tell them what you want on each nail . You literally have to rattle it off : I want a pineapple, lips, a sneaker, ice cream and a lady. If you don’t know, don’t go. I am telling you – do not waste their time. The fact that I do not have a 12 year old daughter or a daughter at all and I know all this is ludicrous, right? But I love it. If your daughter wants to get her nails done, I will happy take her to Newark. They last for 4-5 weeks (they are GEL), its $40 and you mark my words…once her friend, Dylan, comes to school with these fancy nails all the girls are going to want to go. Which means you have to drive to Newark.

But remember I offered to take them!

Happy Saturday!

xx

Amy – you dont need to drive to Newark for this nail art.  My 11 year old daughter Sydney has discovered that “Beauty ONE” nail salon on Mt Pleasant Avenue in Subway shopping Center will do this for you.  Just ask for Julie!!!!

I am surprised you would promote a nail salon like this. It is in an unsafe area and UnSanitary. HaVe you seen thE complaInts online aBout CLEANLINESS there? Do You knoW what the crime rate is in Newark? Car jacking? Etc….You should RETRACT this post!  Also should young girls be getting gel nails for $40?????
