The Birthday Dinner
Every month someone has a birthday. The email goes around…
“Lets go out for Sam’s birthday, 8pm Tuesday the 15th at Hat City Kitchen”
I am all for going out with my friends to celebrate their birthday. It’s their day and they deserve it but I do think the birthday gift has gotten out of hand. Every month its $40-$50 plus dinner on a birthday. Now IF this is a 35th, 40th, 45th – A BIG BIRTHDAY – I am all in! But every month, someone has a birthday and we all chip in for a big gift no matter if it’s a 37th bday or a 42nd. Where do we draw the line?
I will be the first one to tell you, I love my birthday. I love going out for drinks, I love going out with my friends, my husband, my kids etc. I would let it linger for a week if I could BUT I think the birthday gift from the friends can end. It’s nice enough for all of us to get together for dinner but I will be the first one to say – Please no gifts 🙂
Here here!! My sentiments exactly , that’s why for years I wouldn’t even go for the birthday dinner unless it was a big one!!
Unless it’s a lulu gift card…
I’m with you Amy. I do the same but with my immediate family (sister, cousins & aunts). We celebrate bdays just about every month, but we said it would just be dinner & no gifts. We have so much fun & there’s no commitment for gifts, it was agreed upon when we started 2 yrs ago.
couldn’t agree more! LOVE celebrating with my friends but gifts should be left for “5s” and “0s”….35, 40, 45….etc…..

Dreary Day…
It was a dreary day here yesterday, so I just took to piddeling around online and realized…
