Day 6 & 7. Battling through…

Day 6. Saturday

I decided to go to Super Yoga Man’s workout (a.k.a Joey) on Saturday morning. Well that was pretty spectacular. For so long I have been trying to cardio my way through hot yoga. This class was a whole other level of yoga. Not that flow is not but Joey’s class is so tuned into how to do the poses correctly that I learned more in that one class that I have in years. He’s an awesome teacher and I could feel the layers of stress come off as the class progressed. It was such a nice way to start the day on Saturday. My head was in a great place.

This past week I have been a having shake, a hearty lunch, a shake. You can have snacks if you are truly hungry because the point is to “detox” not starve. You do not want your body to go into starvation mode and hold onto excess weight to protect itself from famine.  Greg and I had plans to go out so I had a shake at lunch instead of dinner and actually ATE dinner.  By 3pm I was STARVING. I ate a few almonds to hold myself over but I had a headache and wasn’t so happy. By the time we got to dinner I was soooo excited to eat. Fish and veggies. done.

Sitting at dinner I realized how much wine is a part of my life. I don’t remember the last time I went out on a Saturday night and didn’t have a glass of wine. I am sure real coffee drinkers must feel like this the first week of the cleanse (no coffee for 21 days!) but coffee is my wine. I was kind of depressed I couldn’t have just one glass. I like to unwind after my crazy week and sparkling water was not cutting it. You know?

Even weirder was finishing dinner at 9. We decided to go to a friend’s house to watch a movie. Their kids were sleeping out and we were not read to go home at 9pm. After an hour of trying to figure out what movie to watch, we picked “Las Vegas” because it got 4 stars and had an incredible cast. If you haven’t seen this movie yet, DO NOT! Omg worst movie ever!!! I cannot believe that Michael Douglas, Kevin Kline,  Morgan Freeman and Robert De Niro actually decided to make this movie. Mind blowing that Shawshank (a.k.a Morgan Freeman) was part of this horrific movie. Do not waste one minute of your time. You should not even be allowed to rent this on Demand. They need to nix it stat (really embarrassed for them).

Day 7.

Time to get on the scale. I stripped, held my breath and slowly stepped on the scale. Down 2.5 lbs! Now that may not seem like a lot to you but the fact that I lost anything was exciting. Plus the point of this is do it in a “healthy” way. I do not need to lose 40 lbs. I need to lose 8 so I wasn’t expecting this dramatic weight loss. I still have 2 weeks to go and I feel great!

I went to Soul Cycle because I figured that Monday will be a loss due to snow plus I have a lot of writing to do this week and need to manage my time. I tried a new teacher – Kristina P. WOW talk about energy in a class. There was not one bike empty in there . She rocked it. When she asked “Do you  know how Soul Cycle is like sex?” I had no idea where she was going with it but she had all the guys attention in the room. She answered “You have to tell me what is working and what is not.” Good point Kristina. Every single guy in this room will be back I was thinking as she was cheering around the room in her hot outfit that THIS IS WHY! This is why Soul can charge $34 per class, fill every seat in the room and  not offer a discount on their package. Hot teacher, great music, incredible energy. They nailed it.

I went home to make my Middle Eastern Turkey Burgers  (recipe from first cleanse post) for the week. They are soooo good! Have you made them yet? I put them over salad and used the “Thin -I-Gette” dressing from The Little Book of Thin: Foodtrainers Plan-It-to-Lose-It Solutions for Every Diet Dilemma that I LOVE!

Posting here (Thank you Lauren Slayton)

This makes about 1/4 cup so I double the recipe

  • 1 tablespoon of miso (I LOVE miso master from whole foods)
  • 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup of olive oil

Combine all ingredients in a jar with a lid. Cover and Shake.

Went to little man’s hockey game. Very exciting to see him score his first goal of the season. priceless. Especially since his basketball game the day before was torturous. I will not expand on that but let’s just say it was tough to watch.

I had some cucumbers and hummus as a snack. Have you had Bobbi’s Hummus yet?? I promise you this is the BEST. THE BEST HUMMUS AROUND!  You can only find it at Whole Foods and a few ShopRite’s.  Try not to eat it in one sitting! Here is a pic of it but I did not eat with the crackers! (By the way, I have no affiliation with this hummus or the book of thin dressing, just passing on some of my faves!)

I am going to have my Almond Butter and Jelly shake for dinner and give some Facebook commentary on the Oscars…probably won’t be as fun as the Globes were!

Excited to start week 2. My takeaways from the first week were

  1. Better to stay on the shake, lunch, shake plan than having a shake, shake, dinner
  2. Eating healthy reflects my mood and I have been dancing around the house for 3 days
  3. I have a new outlook on yoga and embracing it with this cleanse seems to be working out perfectly
  4. Soul Cycle ROCKS
  5. Saturday is the hardest day and you def need to prepare to be anti social for 3 weeks!

Sick of me yet or want me to keep going??

xx
