Sprinkle Rice Krispie Treats

Snow day means Pinterest day. A ton of great finds on there, it is so hard to walk away. I saw these this morning on Smart School house  and thought how cute these would be to make with the kids IF you have the ingredients at home. If not, save it and make them on the next snow day. I am SURE there will be another!

These are so easy to make and not time-consuming at all!

Make the rice krispie treat mixture using the basic recipe

Ingredients

  • 6 cups of Rice Krispie cereal
  • 1 package of marshmallows
  • 3 tbsp. butter
  • melting chocolate found in the baking aisle OR Wilton Candy Melts

Directions

  1. Melt the butter
  2. Add the marshmallows and allow them to melt with the butter
  3. Pour in the dry cereal.
  4. Use non-stick cooking spray  inside of a plastic ice-cube tray.
  5. Spray a little on a spoon and the tips of my fingers so that the sticky mixture is easier to work with.
  6. Place the warm rice krispie treat mixture into the ice-cube tray and let them cool.
  7. Melt baking chocolate in microwave or over a double broiler . I always use Wilton Candy Melts, they come in a slew of colors.
  8. Dip the base of the rice krispie treat popper into the melted chocolate
  9. Ask your kids to douse the poppers in sprinkles!
  10. Once the chocolate is cooled, the sprinkles will be stuck to the rice krispie poppers.
  11. Use wax paper for the drying process.
